It is the Saturday after Thanksgiving and our family from out of state is ready for a little more New England holiday vibe. The original plan is to get a Christmas tree today and holiday shop in a quaint little Vermont town tomorrow, but the weather says otherwise. Snow on Sunday starts in the early afternoon, NOT great for traveling, yet Saturday is sunny so we are switching agendas! Quaint shopping is today so we are headed to Woodstock, Vermont.
Read MoreWe've fallen into a cadence here -- pool time, beach time, punctuated by activities and the occasional lunch or dinner out, though we have been cooking at the house quite a bit. Especially since the guys go deep sea fishing mid-week. They pull in quite a catch. We use Grand Slam Fishing Charters and they do not disappoint. Here is a compilation of the other charters, activities and restaurants we are able to utilize/visit during our stay (please see my previous T & C posts for other restaurant/venue/charter recommendations).
Read MoreIn honor of Mother's Day, 5 of us fled the United States and left our children thousands of miles away in order to relax. To be honest, when we booked the trip, Mother's Day was not on our radar, but hey, it's a good strategy when you think about it! Our plan for the day is to chill on the beach and by the pool, followed by dinner at Coco Bistro. It is a beautiful day in Paradise and we plan to make the most of it while exerting the least amount of effort.
Read MoreSaturday is a sunny day - to start - so Bob hits the slopes while I do some blogging. After a few hours, he comes back and we take a leisurely walk (Ann is still stopping to catch her breath) and then get ready for a lovely wedding in town. Now it's Sunday, our final day. The plan is to ski, but it is snowing and windy with zero visibility. Not for me. We are headed to town, as we have not spent much, if any time wandering the streets of Telluride. Gotta do it.
Read MoreWe wake up to sunshine on the San Jaun mountain range and it looks like it's going to be a great day weatherwise, but my breathing is another story. I have skied in Utah, Montana and all over British Columbia, Canada. But the only two places that have affected me like this are Vail, Co. and Telluride. It makes sense, because Colorado is at least 3,000 feet higher than the others. Experience tells me to take a day to acclimate and save the skiing for later. So Bob heads out skiing with a group of 7 or so, and I stay in the room to blog and suck on a canister of oxygen I bought at our hotel.
Read MoreIn the early morning I usually read the news while I sip my coffee. I see on Boston.com that the Intercontinental Hotel Boston is ranked one of the top 25 luxury hotels in the Unites States. Well hey. So I drop Bob a note saying we should stay there on our next trip to Boston. He responds with "Book a room for tonight, we're going to Boston".
Read MoreIt is Wednesday morning and 12" of fresh snow fell last night. The snow is good. Our plan is to get to the lifts for first runs, but Bob's business calls go a little over. We are on mountain by 9:30, though, so things are in good shape. It is overcast and the top is socked in. Let the games begin.
Read MoreIt's my last day in NYC and I. have plans! A little shopping, a walk and photo shoot through Central Park, maybe a light lunch, some blogging and then a lovely dinner with the husband. It is clear and sunny! Except, the Polar Vortex (freezing cold air) has arrived and the temperatures are bone-chilling. Time for a change of plans. Spa day.
Read MoreMy favorite thing to do when I go to a city is to walk around and explore the environs, and if it's a big city like New York or San Francisco, I usually stay close to the hotel. There is always so much to do and see within a few mile radius, and you get to learn a bit about one section of town. The trick is to book a hotel in a different neighborhood each time so that you slowly stitch together a feel for the city as a whole. This trip we are staying in Midtown New York, and there is a LOT going on around here! It will be hard NOT to find something fun to do!
Read MoreIt is Monday and the team is in meetings all day. I told Barbara I would meet her at the gym at 9am for Zumba. I have never Zumba'd before, but I used to be a cheerleader so how hard can this be? I get dressed in my workout gear and on the way to the Fitness Center I see this guy walking around with a hawk. They use hawks to keep the pigeons at bay but I can tell you from my lunch experience yesterday that it does not work, but this is a great photo. This guy has a great job!
Read MoreIt is a December morning in Southern California, and the weather is beautiful! Bob and I enjoy breakfast oustide on the deck and I blog a little bit while he gets ready for golf. Once he is gone and I am done writing, I meet a friend for lunch at the Coliseum Pool and Grill at Pelican Hill.
Read MoreOur trip from Chicago, IL. to Sioux Falls SD. is unremarkable besides the fact that we are leaving a blizzard behind us. We drive through Wisconsin, cross the Mississippi River and travel through all of Minneapolis on Route 90. There are 10,000 windmills in Minneapolis, by the way, I counted
Read MoreIt's October in Boston and the RedSox are in the playoffs. I must get there to root, root, root for the home team! Well it just so happens that Bob was able to scare up some tickets for the opener against the Yankees, so GAME ON! Literally.

Read MoreI've arrived back at the hotel from my day of leisure, now it is time to freshen up and begin the evening portion of the program. Bob and I meet Dean and Jens on the Rooftop Terrace at the Penninsula Hotel, which by all accounts was to be closed today due to weather, but still, no rain. We have a beverage and the guys discuss their trip while I look at the view and snap a few pictures from both the terrace and the adjoining restaurant,
Read MoreWe have been to Paris before. This is actually my third trip, though neither of the previous two were very long, nor is this one. Our first visit was five days, our second was two, and this one is even shorter. Between the first two trips we've managed to see a lot. Our first stop, of course, was the Eiffel Tower.
Read MoreIt is early when we leave Milan this morning. The guys have a meeting in Hamburg, Germany which will last for several hours, and then we head to Paris, France. Three countries in one day. Flights are quick, though - 1.5 hours each. We can do this. A driver will pick us up in Germany and after he drops the men off he will drive me around to see the sights. I am in favor of this arrangement.
Read MoreIt is Monday morning in Milan. What a great and busy weekend! The guys are working so I can do whatever I want today. In my happy space. Bob leaves for his meetings so I get myself together and head down to the piazza at the hotel which will be my office for the morning. I will do a blog entry and then head out to do some exploring. There is a large da Vinci museum in town but being Monday, most of the museums are closed. So I think I will go to the Milan Cathedral and climb on it and in it.
