Past Christmases at The Wilkins
Not sure what year, but it was snowy and sparkly.
We are traveling for Christmas and New Year's this year. It changes everything. Happy to drive from NH to Montana with my husband and a dog, but... seems a waste to put up a tree. And we dig our tree. Thansgiving is my proclaimed favorite holiday, but I bring it for Christmas too. We both do. But different is good.
So this year I will post photos from Christmas past and wish you all a lovely holiday season. Please tune in next week when my posts, "Montana or Bust" begin. I promise it won't be dull.
Bob putting the lights on the tree. He does all the lights and every decoration. Sometimes we move them around just to freak him out. And I always tell him there are not enough lights :-)
It's big but pretty, and natural. We cut it down, secret source, $25. I should videotape he and I getting it on the truck, in the house and in the stand. It's a process.
My kids, 9,000 years ago, posing before they went to church with Grammy. They look slightly petrified. If I remember, this photo shoot took some time and the quality is not great, but they are still adorable!!
I do the mantle differently every year. And I have never burnt the house down.
Crazy kid with crazy gift! Looks like a minion.
Dinner for four, Christmas night.
There is so much more I could talk about and so many more pictures I could post. Bob's sourdough pancakes on Christmas morning, the cabana all lit up, decorations everywhere you look, gifts coming in every day and Bob making everyone hide and not look (he goes overboard), family parties, etc. Finding the pickle on the tree Christmas morning. Oh well, next year. I've spent Christmas in the mountains of Montana and it, too, is special. Photos to come.
PS, here is this year's tree. It measures 20" including the base. Sometimes it is good to take a year off and do something radically different. Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, Happy New Year, happy life.
Happy holidays from our home to yours.
