Day 3 & 4 in Atlanta, Georgia
Sculpture and a water feature at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
Today my beautiful neice Kara and her beautiful toddler baby girl Addison are picking me up at the Whitley Hotel in Buckhead, Georgia and taking me to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, and then to their home in Roswell Georgia, about 30 minutes away from Buckhead. We head off and are at the gardens in no time. It is beautiful, and warm, and the baby gets to run around and be a boss. I will just leave you with some pictures, please click along the edge of the images to scroll through. If you are in the Atlanta area and you like gardens, go there. We stroll around and have a lovely lunch at the Longleaf Restaurant on premise. Addy uses one french fry to stick in ketchup and suck it off. I'm pretty sure she had 1/4 cup of ketchup delivered by one french fry. It was fabulous to observe. Well, ketchup is a vegetable, right? Pretty sure Ronald Reagan said it was. So there. We spend a few hours at the garden and it is relaxing and fun. http://atlantabg.org.
We stop at their house in Roswell for a few hours, and while the baby naps, we enjoy the nice weather in the yard and catch up. Then it is off to downtown Roswell for dinner. Roswell is a cute little town with lots of cool shops, art galleries and restaurants. My kinda place. Again, I will leave you with some pictures, click on the right to toggle through. Tonight we are dining at "Noca" on an outside patio and watching the Masters Golf Tournament, but beforehand we walk through a bit of the town and this little beer-garden area which looks cool! It is early, no-one is here. And I am so not a beer girl. So we proceed to the restaurant. We are joined by my other beautiful niece, Alyssa, and Kara's husband, Kevin. And another couple, so we are a party of 7 including the baby. We start with some calamari and mussels which we all share, and for my entree I have fried green tomatoes with some goat cheese and a light sauce, because I am in the south. It is fantastic. We finish up and head back to the house and hang for a bit. I am the first to bed, because youngsters are exhausting. Bob sends some photos of him on TV on the 18th hole of Augusta. I see them the next day.

Saturday morning, Kara and I decide to walk the dog and the baby along the Chattahoochee River. You are singing the song right now, I know. It is about 5 minutes from her house and there is a lovely park with a playground and a place you can rent a kayak and/or canoe and "shoot the 'hooch". It is way too cold for that today but I may be back because it sounds like fun. Kayak, canoe, tube, tube for your cooler, and then float and bask in the sun. I hear that in the summer it is 120 degrees here and I believe it. So water sounds key.
Way down yonder on the Chattahoochee... cuteness overload happening here!
After playing in the park with my grand-niece, we decide to head to Roswell Provisions to get some sandwiches and hang at the house while the baby naps. Roswell Provisions is my kind of place - a VERY French restaurant on the second floor with amazing views of Main Street, and a shop on the main floor with lots of, well, provisions. We order a French Onion Soup, a salad, a French Dip sandwich, and then an Italian sandwich for me. It's on a baguette, don't judge me. Addie sleeps from 7:30pm to 9:00am and then naps for two hours in the afternoon. And when she wakes up she is large and in charge. I like everything about this.

When she wakes up from her nap we go to The Avalon shopping mall because there is sushi there, and a kid playground, and you can walk around with a glass of wine. Someone who is not me did this. After sushi, Kevin and I continue to watch the golf match while Kara takes Addie to a playground area where she rolls around on the floor and continues to be large and in charge. #lovethisgirl. She likes to sit on my lap in the morning and watch "The Wiggles" on my computer. I can't get Wiggles songs out of my mind. "Fruit Salad" and "Peanut Butter" are prominent, along with "Get Ready to Wiggle". You Tube it. Or not. There is also a "Red Car" song, but I am trying to forget.
My youngest niece Alyssa has been doing Habitat for Humanity all day, so when she is done, we go to eat yet again in downtown Roswell. Kevin stays home with baby girl and watches hockey, so we get some girl time! We stop at Vin 25 and have some apps, then head home with some dessert, watch golf replays and FaceTime with Bob. And my kids. Tomorrow we will make food and sit around watching golf. Then Monday I go home. Gonna miss that baby. Gonna miss everybody. More travel coming up and I might actually cook something soon, and if spring ever comes to New Hampshire we can garden together. Thanks for following along. Stay tuned and don't forget to comment!
